MISSIONS/OUTREACH

Our mission work includes both monetary donations and “hands-on” work. Over the years, we have contributed to Community Nurses, Neediest Family Fund, Child & Family Services, Providence Ronald McDonald House, Mobile Ministries, The Women’s Center, InterChurch Council of Greater New Bedford, Habitat for Humanity, Sister Rose House, and other local organizations. We have volunteered at Gifts to Give, worked on a Habitat for Humanity building in Wareham, served lunch monthly at Market Ministries Soup Kitchen, and served breakfast for Loaves and Fishes.

Our national donations include Wounded Warriors, Heifer International, a clothing drive for Afghan Refugees, and support for Ukraine. Yearly, we contribute to Neighbors-in-Need, One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen the Church, and Veterans of the Cross.

We also collect school supplies, socks, and other necessities for those in need.

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE!

Chorus

Music is very important in our church. It is presented in a variety of styles for the spiritual enrichment of the congregation. We love to sing and make music to honor God.

The Adult Choir is a volunteer group that sings mainly three/four-part choral music of many styles. This group is open to all singers and rehearses on Sunday morning before the worship service. The group provides an anthem and support for congregational singing at services from mid-September to mid-June. The Adult Choir also provides special music for special services during the church year celebrations along with an occasional choral concert.

Small Vocal Groups: An opportunity exists for singers and instrumentalists to present music in smaller ensembles to enrich our music program and to provide special music on those Sundays that the choir is not singing. These groups are assembled by the singers at the discretion of the Director of Music. Anyone with a musical gift is encouraged to share at any time. Please speak with the Director of Music or the Pastor.

HEAVENLY TREASURE THRIFT SHOP

Volunteers run an active and thriving thrift shop on the premises which opened on June 27, 2009, as part of the Fairhaven Homecoming Fair. A contest was held to name the shop and the winning entry “Heavenly Treasurers” was suggested by our very first customer.

The shop is open Wednesday & Saturday from 10:00 until 1:00.

All items are donated by people in the community and the shop continues to be a successful fundraiser and mission project for our church.

OUR FOOD PANTRY

pantry-6033796_1920

We maintain a pantry of non-perishable food items for those in the community in need of emergency food supplies and personal items. It is available Tuesday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In addition, we maintain a free “little pantry” or “Blessing Box”, near the William St. entrance, for those who cannot come to the Food Pantry. People are invited to leave or take food as they wish.

A Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, we assemble gift baskets for those in need, with food, household supplies, treats, and gift cards.
